Man suffers ‘life-threatening injuries’ in Maui crash
A collision between a car and pickup truck sent a man to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, Maui police said.
The victim was driving a brown 2005 Ford Focus north on Mahalani Street past Maui Lani Parkway in Wailuku and crossed the center line, colliding with a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck at about 5 p.m. Thursday, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, however his child sustained minor injuries and was treated at Maui Memorial Hospital.
Police said the driver of the Focus was not wearing a seat belt, but the front seat airbag did deploy. The child was in a child safety seat in the back seat of the pickup, police said.
Police are investigating whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.
