Concrete block wreaks havoc on H-1 drive
A large concrete block lying on the H-1 damaged multiple cars Tuesday night, drivers and police say.
Those cars were heading westbound before the Likelike Highway overpass around 11:30 p.m. At least five of the drivers pulled their damaged cars over on the freeway shoulder after striking the block, which witnesses described as about 2 feet wide and 2 feet long. Hono•lulu Police Department officers later arrived to assist the drivers.
No injuries were reported, and authorities say they do not know how the block got there and do not have any leads. HPD was able to remove the concrete debris, which was smashed into smaller pieces from the collisions, department spokes•woman Michelle Yu said.
