Firefighters responded to the scene of an overturned vehicle in the Kaneohe-bound lanes of the Likelike Highway this morning.

Three traffic accidents and rain on the Likelike Highway caused a major traffic jam Thursday morning for commuters, closing all Kaneohe-bound traffic going through the Wilson Tunnel for nearly two hours.

Capt. Tyler Chan, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman, said the first incident occurred at 7 a.m. on the Kaneohe side of the Wilson Tunnel when a vehicle flipped after colliding with a pole.

A car trying to avoid the vehicle clipped another vehicle, Chan said.

The third accident occurred on the Honolulu side of the tunnel.

Both Kaneohe-bound lanes on the Likelike Highway were closed by police just after 8 a.m. and reopened at 9:43 a.m. All traffic was diverted to Nalanieha Street in Kalihi.

There was no immediate report of injuries.
