A woman two months pregnant was held down by her sister while a male friend stabbed the victim in the back several times, according to a police affidavit filed in Honolulu District Court.
Jessica Lee Hinebaugh, 20, of Mililani was charged Wednesday with second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, kidnapping, second-degree identity theft, second-degree theft and unauthorized possession of confidential personal information.
Her alleged accomplice, Michael Ayala, 23, is charged with second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, kidnapping, second-degree identity theft and second-degree theft.
Both remain in custody on $150,000 bail each.
According to the police affidavit, Hinebaugh, without warning, tackled her 23-year-old sister, Casey Ann Jones, in her Mililani apartment at 11 a.m. Sunday.
While Hinebaugh held her sister down, Ayala allegedly stabbed Jones several times in the back.
Hinebaugh then ordered Jones to book plane tickets for her and Ayala using her older sister’s bank information, leaving Honolulu for Miami the next day. Hinebaugh also allegedly took her older sister’s ATM card and personal identification number.
Hinebaugh then packed the knife used in the attack, along with Jones’ bloodstained clothing and personal items, in a duffel bag.
When Jones’ husband arrived at the Ainamakua Drive apartment, Jones brushed off his inquiries, and the couple left with the duffel bag.
Jones later showed her husband her stab wounds and was taken to Wahiawa General Hospital for treatment.
A Honolulu Airport security guard who had received a police-issued alert about the robbery suspects stopped the couple Monday. Ayala and Hinebaugh were then arrested by deputy sheriffs.
