HPU volleyball team beats Chaminade
Pomai Recca had 16 kills and Elizabeth Culpepper had 13 kills as host Hawaii Pacific defeated Chaminade 23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-19, in a Pacific West Conference women’s volleyball match Saturday.
Samantha Rummans added 12 kills for the Sea Warriors (13-4, 7-2) and Chelsey Buyuan had 18 digs in the win.
Crystal Powell had 13 kills and Kylee Pedro had 11 kills for the Silverswords (5-9, 2-7).

The Seasiders (13-1, 8-1) have won six straight matches, all of them on the road. The Vulcans dropped to 5-9 and 0-9.
Penalty kick lifts Brigham Young-Hawaii
Pawel Dregan’s penalty kick in the 81st minute carried the host Brigham Young-Hawaii men’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over Dominican in a Pacific West Conference match Saturday.
David Urbina also scored for BYUH (4-3-2, 2-2-1). Lee Leverrier scored for Dominican (3-7-2, 1-4-1).

Kim Micheletti also scored for BYUH (2-4-2, 1-3-1). McKenna Kimball scored for Dominican (5-5-2, 2-3-1).

Hara and Lydon share Turtle Bay lead
Kyosuke Hara and Jared Lydon are tied atop the leaderboard after Saturday’s first round of the Turtle Bay Amateur.
Hara and Lydon both shot a 2-under 70 on the Arnold Palmer Course. Todd Rego and Jared Sawada are a shot behind the leaders.
Cory Ohman (3-over 75) leads the A flight and Stanley Fujimoto and Leighton Uyeda both shot a 79 to lead the B flight. Walter Sabati leads the C flight with an 81.
The final round starts today at 7:30 a.m. on the George Fazio Course.
