Abercrombie heads to Capitol Hill to discuss shutdown
Gov. Neil Abercrombie left for Washington, D.C. Tuesday to discuss the impact of the partial government shutdown on Hawaii.
The governor, a former congressman, will meet with the state’s congressional delegation and some of his former colleagues.
Louise Kim McCoy, Abercrombie’s spokeswoman, said the governor had a previously scheduled trip to the East Coast that will now include a stop in the capital. The governor is expected back on Sunday.
Lt. Gov. Shan Tsutsui is acting governor in the Abercrombie’s absence.
