Crash into guardrail kills motorcyclist
A 23-year-old Kailua man driving a motorcycle was killed Monday morning after he struck the guardrail on the Kamehameha Highway onramp to the H-3 freeway in Kaneohe.
Police said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man lost control of his motorcycle at about 7:30 a.m., and it struck the guardrail. Speed is a factor in the crash, police said. He was wearing a helmet.
Police closed the Kamehameha Highway onramp in Kaneohe to H-3 southbound traffic Monday morning to investigate the accident.
The onramp was closed for nearly three hours.
Man dies after Kahuku track accident
Police said a 49-year-old man who crashed his dirt bike at the Kahuku Motocross Park in Kahuku died Monday.
Paramedics took the man to the hospital in extremely condition after he crashed his dirt bike Monday morning.
He was later pronounced dead, police said.
Emergency Medical Services said the accident occurred at 11:45 a.m.
It was not known whether the victim was wearing a helmet.
Pedestrian is struck by minivan in Makiki
Paramedics took a man in his 60s to the hospital in serious condition Monday morning after he was struck by a minivan while crossing a street in Makiki.
The city Emergency Medical Services Division said the pedestrian was struck at Ward Avenue and Beretania Street at about 10:35 a.m. Details on the accident weren’t available.
