Classics return as retailer turns 40
In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Patagonia Hawaii is bringing back 10 timeless favorites in time for holiday gift giving.
The vintage classics, including the Men’s Post Foamback Cagoule rain poncho, All-Wear Down Jacket and Diamond Quilt Snap-T Pullover of organic cotton jersey, have been reinterpreted with modern materials and design lines.
Additionally, in honor of the anniversary, Patagonia Honolulu, at Ward and Auahi streets, will be giving away a $500 shopping spree. Customers can enter by bringing in their favorite Patagonia item to be photographed with it through Oct. 31.
3 documentaries examine our attire
The Hawaii Fashion Incubator and Interisland Terminal present "Cine a la Mode" Monday through Wednesday, featuring three documentary tales of how, why and what we wear, in celebration of Hawai’i Fashion Month.
The screenings will take place 7 p.m. daily at R/D, 691 Auahi St. Seating is limited; a $5 donation is suggested in support of both presenting nonprofit organizations.
The films are:
» Monday: "God Save My Shoes," in which director Julie Benasra spotlights women and their relationship with shoes.
» Tuesday: "Paul Smith, Gentleman Designer," a portrait of the menswear designer.
» Wednesday: "Schmatta: Rags to Riches to Rags," a journey through New York’s fashion district, from immigrants, union laborers, designers and retail stores to their customers. A discussion will be held after the screening with local guest speakers.
