Toledo beats Navy 45-44 in 2 OTs after failed extra-point conversion

TOLEDO, Ohio » Toledo’s Terrance Owens tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass in the second overtime against Navy and Jeremiah Detmer kicked the extra point to give the Rockets a 45-44 victory over Navy.

Owens found Bernard Reedy wide open in the end zone on Toledo’s second play of the second overtime, tying it at 44-44.

The winning play came after Navy’s Geoffery Whiteside scored on a 9-yard touchdown to give Navy a 44-38 lead. But Nick Sloan missed the extra point.

Sloan had just sent the game into overtime with a 40-yard field goal on the final play in regulation.

Navy (3-3) scored in both overtimes but gave the Rockets (4-3) an opening after the failed kick.

Navy piled up 419 yards rushing while Toledo had 316 yards on the ground.
