Police arrest work furlough escapee
A 45-year-old Oahu Community Correctional Center inmate is a facing an escape charge after he failed to return from a work furlough leave on Tuesday.
Hashim Mustapha left OCCC’s Laumaka Work Furlough Center at 9 p.m. Monday. He was supposed to return to the Kalihi facility at 9 a.m. the next morning, but failed to show up.
Mustapha was found this morning and arrested at 4 a.m., and will likely have a second-degree escape charge added to his sentence.
He was serving time for second-degree methamphetamine trafficking and third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug. He was scheduled for a parole hearing in January.
