Technical difficulties briefly knock World Series off the air for Hawaii viewers

Technical difficulties knocked some of the early innings of the World Series’ Game 5 off the air for many Hawaii TV viewers this afternoon.

“The problem was not our fault,” said Kristina Lockwood, president and general manager of KHON, the Hawaii FOX affiliate. “Apparently the Time Warner fiber connection at Queen Street was lost. Time Warner fixed it immediately.”

While the game was off air, KHON broadcast the syndicated talk show “Bethenny.”

The game broadcast was restored by the bottom of the third inning, with the Red Sox ahead 1-0.

The Red Sox went on to win, 3-1, to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.
