Sexual assault of a Waipahu girl that began when she was 51/2 years old after she first came to Hawaii from the Philippines continued until she was 17, according to a police affidavit filed Wednesday in Honolulu District Court.
Jaylord Parras, 27, was arrested at his home Monday morning and charged Tuesday with four counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of third-degree sex assault. His bail was set at $50,000.
The victim, now 19, told police she did not report the years of sexual attacks because she was afraid of "being blamed."
The police affidavit said the victim told investigators that the suspect was 13 or 14 years old when the first sexual encounter occurred.
The assaults continued until the suspect was 18 years old and left the home to live with his pregnant girlfriend.
The suspect broke up with his girlfriend in 2007 and moved back into his family home in Waipahu and continued to attack the minor child, the affidavit said.
The victim said the suspect introduced her to cigarettes, marijuana and crystal methamphetamine when she was 16.
The last assault occurred when the victim was 17 in 2011, according to the police affidavit.
A year later, the victim said, she decided to tell a relative about the assaults and had been afraid of reporting it because of an earlier incident and for fear of "being blamed."
