Afternoon showers are likely to develop over Oahu and other islands today as a cold front approaches the islands.

Forecasters say daytime heating and sea breezes will likely create conditions like Wednesday with afternoon clouds and showers over interior sections.

Trade winds will return Friday night, but the approaching weather system will also bring a greater chance of showers, even in leeward areas, beginning Saturday night through early next week.

The forecast for Honolulu calls for a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain through Sunday night.
