Civil Defense testing sirens in Kakaako, Kaimuki today

State Civil Defense is completing its testing of newly installed sirens between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. today in Kakaako and Kaimuki.

The agency has been testing the new sirens in various areas on Oahu since Wednesday.

Today’s test are at Kakaako Makai Gateway Park and Kapaolono Field in Kaimuki.

Residents in these areas may hear the sirens sound for 30 seconds during the identified time periods, officials said.

Oahu residents are asked to call the city’s Honolulu Department of Emergency Management at 723-8960 to report routine siren operations issues.
