An escapee from the Oahu Community Correctional Center has been recaptured, the Department of Public Safety said today.

Police arrested Jarrett Derego early this morning and he has been returned to OCCC, a spokeswoman for the department said in an e-mail.

Derego,  27, failed to return to the Kalihi facility Monday night while on a work furlough pass to go job-hunting. He was in the beginning stages of the work furlough program.

Derego was serving time for violating a protection order and car theft,

His sentence was supposed to end Sept. 14, 2016, prison official said. He will now be charged with second-degree escape and could face more prison time.
