Man injured in Anahola fire

A 25-year old man suffered minor injuries in a fire that burned a one-story home in Anahola this morning, the Kauai Fire Department reported.

Arriving firefighters found almost half the home in flames when they responded to the 5:09 a.m. alarm.

 Six residents – four adults and two children – were outside the home when firefighters and police arrived at approximately 5:15 am.  Medics took one man to the hospital, where he was treated and released for his injuries.

Sixteen firefighters had the blaze under control by 5:37 a.m. 

Damage to the home and contents is estimated at $210,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The American Red Cross responded is assisting the residents displaced by the fire.
