Somewhere over the rainbow, a win?
It’s an amazing coincidence that the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will be donning retro uniforms at their game against San Diego State today — you know, the ones with the rainbow logos on them.
Though planned long in advance, the occasion coincides with the fact that Hawaii this week became the 15th state to legalize same-sex marriage — you know, whose proponents often tout rainbows as a sign of how people of all different stripes and colors can get along.
Like the retro uniforms or not, consider this: If the team finally wins a game today — its first of the season — maybe Coach Norm Chow should stick with them for a while before going back to the other uniforms. Like the beer commercial says, "It’s only weird if it doesn’t work."
Path looks clear for same-sex weddings
Speaking of Hawaii’s landmark marriage equality bill: Circuit Judge Karl Sakamoto made quick work of a requested temporary restraining order to halt the law, rejecting it Thursday after an hour of arguments. The path now looks clear for the state to start issuing marriage licen-ses to same-sex couples come Dec. 2. Stay tuned.
