FTR HEALING GARDEN- 17 JANUARY 2015- Kumu hula ‘Iwalani Tseu began restoring her family’s Ewa plains property in 2006 after her second bout with cancer. The property, with it’s plantation era homes, was overrun and had become a dumping ground. Tseu, with the help of her ohana, friends, politicians and community volunteers, cleared the debris and fixed up the property. During the process she focused on replanting the grounds with native plants and found that it became her “Healing Garden.” Pictured is a detail of a pink hibiscus bloom in Tseu's garden. Tseu incorporates splashes of pink to honor women with breast cancer. GARDEN PARTY. Honolulu Star-Advertiser photo by Cindy Ellen Russell
