Chen Xue couldn't quite come up with a dig during the women's championship match of the 2013 Hilton HHonors Beach Volleyball Challenge on Sunday at Hilton Hawaiian Village. Team China -- Chen and Xinyi Xia -- faced Team USA -- Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross -- in the championship match. The tournament will be broadcast on NBC Sports (Channel 210) on Dec. 2, 3 and 14.

Sea Warriors open with hoops victory

Hawaii Pacific downed Western State Colorado University 75-65 on Sunday at Blaisdell Arena to open its 2013-14 men’s basketball campaign.

Darry Jones Jr. and Malte Ziegenhagen had 17 points each to lead the Sea Warriors. Hawaii Pacific made 53 percent (26-for-49) of its shots from the field.

Mason Biddle had a game-high 28 points to lead the Mountaineers (0-2).

Hawaii fourth in dinghy championships

The Hawaii coed sailing team finished fourth at the Pacific Coast fall dinghy championships, which wrapped up Sunday in Santa Barbara, Calif.
