An 83-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder for allegedly firing a shot at two police officers after barricading himself in a bedroom of his Kalaheo home, Kauai police said.

Just before 10 a.m., two police officers went to the Palama Street home to serve a grand jury warrant to the man, police said. The man failed to comply with the officers as they attempted to detain him, according to a Kauai County news release.

Police said the officers entered the home when the man barricaded himself in his bedroom. The man then fired a single shot in the direction of one of the officers, county officials said.

No injuries were reported
