Pros lead amateurs in Burns Cup golf
Led by Dean Wilson and Philip Chun, the professionals forged a 7-5 lead over the amateurs after two rounds of the John A. Burns Challenge Cup golf tournament Monday at Mid-Pacific Country Club.
The amateurs jumped out to a quick 31⁄2 to 21⁄2 lead in the morning round, played in the four-ball match-play format.
Wilson and Chun helped the pros rally in the afternoon alternate-shot round, beating Jared Sawada and Tyler Ota, 7 and 6.
The teams go head to head in today’s 12 individual match-play pairings, with the amateurs gunning to retain the cup for the seventh straight year.
