Blaze damages Kilauea house
Fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a Kauai home and its contents Tuesday afternoon.
No one was home at the time of the 3:45 p.m. blaze.
The fire began sometime before 3:45 p.m. at the single-story house on Kahiliholo Road in Kilauea.
Firefighters were on scene in 15 minutes, brought the blaze under control by 4:23 p.m. and extinguished it at 5:36 p.m., a county news release said.
ATM taken from Iwilei area
Police are investigating the theft early Tuesday morning of an ATM in Iwilei.
A suspect stole the ATM and fled at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
Police provided no details as to the type of business it was stolen from, nor any description of a suspect. The case is classified as a second-degree theft.
Man charged in attack on pair
A 25-year-old Kalama Valley man was charged Tuesday in the assault of a man, 19, and a woman, 22, who were sitting in a parked vehicle in Palolo on Oct. 11.
Prosecutors charged Jordan Jovero with first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. His bail was set at $75,000.
Police said Jovero had confronted and physically assaulted the pair at 2:30 a.m. during a domestic dispute.
Police later located Jovero and arrested him Monday on suspicion of the car break-in, criminal property damage, abuse of a household member and interference in reporting an emergency.
