Carol Burnett and Larry Manetti, who appeared together in "Magnum, P.I.," are reunited in tonight’s episode of "Hawaii Five-0," airing at 8 p.m. on CBS.
The famed comedian appeared on "Magnum" in 1984 and 1988, Manetti said during filming for the "Five-0" episode last month.
"She played a private detective," he said. "She was hysterical."
Burnett plays Steve McGarrett’s beloved aunt, Deb McGarrett. Manetti is returning in the role he created earlier this year: the flashy, tuxedo-wearing lounge singer Nicky "The Kid" Demarco.
"It was a ball because Carole sings also in the lounge, and she’s fantastic," Manetti said. "She is the best. I love her. We had dinner at our favorite restaurant, Michel’s."
Their scenes were shot at La Mariana, the real-life tiki bar on Sand Island that "Five-0" turned into Demarco’s place, the Tiki Lounge.
Tonight’s episode also sees the return of Steve McGarrett’s sister, played by Taryn Manning.
Manetti played Rick during the eight-season run of "Magnum," which CBS shot in Hawaii. Rick managed the fictious King Kamehameha Club and served as the well-connected sidekick to the show’s main character, Thomas Magnum, who was played with charm and humor by Tom Selleck.
