HILO >> A patron at a Hilo McDonald’s restaurant ended up inside the building without getting out of his car.
The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports 79-year-old Masaaki Oshiba lost control of his vehicle Monday and crashed into one of the side entrances.
Oshiba says he was going a little too fast, tried to slow down but waited too long. Neither he nor his wife was injured.
The crash closed dine-in services for part of Monday.
Store manager Craig Okui says he was in a meeting when he got the news that the driver wanted to patronize the restaurant and ended up parking inside the door.
Okui says the restaurant had undergone a full renovation and a grand reopening Nov. 11.
He says it likely will be a while before repairs are completed.
