Hawaii senior forward Kamilah Jackson was named the Big West Conference women’s basketball player of the week Monday after helping her team to the Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Showdown title over the weekend.
Jackson notched double-doubles in a loss against Colorado State and wins over Tennessee-Chattanooga and Minnesota. She’s recorded double figures in points and rebounds in six straight games.
UH (5-3) earned its first early-season tournament championship since 2004 by defeating Minnesota 77-71 in overtime on Sunday.
During the tournament, the Oakland, Calif., native moved up to fifth on the UH career scoring list with 1,343 points.
It was her second Big West weekly honor in two seasons in that league, and fourth such career accolade; she received Western Athletic Conference weekly honors twice.
The Wahine continue play on the road at Oregon State and Pacific on Dec. 13 and 15.
