Suspect held in Pearl City shooting
Police have found and arrested a 39-year-old homeless man suspected of trying to kill a 49-year-old man off a dirt road in Pearl City last month.
Police said the suspect shot and seriously wounded the older man near the ABC Auto Parts off Lehua Avenue on Nov. 4. The victim managed to walk along a bike path to a house in Waiawa, where a resident saw he was bleeding.
Police said the man sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his limbs and torso.
Police arrested the suspect Wednesday in Ewa on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.
Blaze engulfs trailer home on Maui
Fire caused about $40,000 in damage to a trailer home on Kai Hele Ku Street in Lahaina on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire was reported at 3:16 p.m., and firefighters arrived to find the 10-by-40-foot trailer home engulfed in flames. The fire was brought under control shortly after 4 p.m., the county said in a statement.
No one was home at the time.
Damage was estimated to be $10,000 to the structure and $30,000 to the contents.
The cause is still under investigation.
Police officer assaulted in Waikiki
A 27-year-old man was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting a police officer early Thursday morning in Waikiki.
Police said the incident happened at about 3:30 a.m.
The officer approached the suspect to make an arrest in another matter, and that’s when the suspect attacked, police said. The officer was not seriously hurt.
