Accused serial rapist confesses to two sex assaults
The 30-year-old Honolulu man accused of raping three women in their apartments in separate incidents confessed to committing two of the sexual assaults, Deputy City Prosecutor Rochelle Vidinha told a state judge Wednesday afternoon.
An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday charging Asofitu Fio with the sexual assaults of all three women.
Circuit Judge Richard Perkins confirmed Fio’s $1 million bail.
Vidinha told Perkins that Fio is a violent, sexual predator who punched, choked, smothered and threatened his victims into submission and told them he would kill them if they reported to police.
