Felon allegedly had firearm
Police arrested a 23-year-old convicted felon at his house Thursday on suspicion of possessing a firearm after his family called in the alleged crime, police said.
The Hawaii Kai man’s family members called police at about 6:30 p.m. to alert them that he had a firearm and ammunition in his possession, police said. Officers searched the family’s home and located a weapon and ammunition, according to police documents.
Police then found the suspect there and arrested him without incident at 8 p.m. on suspicion of the felony offense of possessing or owning a prohibited firearm.
Man arrested in theft attempt
A 26-year-old man attempted to steal from a 31-year-old woman in the Waikiki area Thursday afternoon, police said.
The man attempted to take personal property from the woman at about 4:30 p.m., according to police documents. He was located and arrested 35 minutes later on suspicion of second-degree attempted theft.
Police nab burglary suspect
Police nabbed a suspected burglar Thursday evening in connection with a break-in at a Waimanalo home and assault at the residence, according to police documents.
A 53-year-old Waimanalo man is suspected of violently burglarizing the home at about 1:30 a.m. Monday, police said. A 20-year-old man and 25-year-old man reported the crime. Police arrested the suspect at his home at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of first-degree burglary. The alleged offense was later reclassified to third-degree assault, according to police records.
