Waianae woman flees from police after shoplifting arrest

A 34-year-old Waianae woman tried to escape from police custody Monday after she complained of pain and was taken to the hospital, according to police records. 

Police said the woman was first arrested on suspicion of shoplifting. While at the emergency room around 1 p.m., she attempted to flee, police said. 

A foot chase ensued, and she was apprehended, according to police records. Police then arrested the woman around 3:15 p.m. on suspicion of resisting arrest, second-degree escape and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
