Indigo space going to cafe
Fresh Cafe is taking over the former Indigo Restaurant space, a second location for the Kakaako eatery.
Fresh Cafe Chinatown, at 1121 Nuuanu Ave., will offer takeout breakfast and lunch, and a sit-down restaurant for breakfast and dinner. It opens early this year.
Owner Tiffany Tanaka said she plans to bring to the new venue the special events that her Kakaako restaurant is known for, such as the monthly Art & Flea market. "The space really lends itself to hosting different types of events," Tanaka said.
She expects the menu to include some items from the Kakaako restaurant, but also "creative interpretations of local favorites and new American cuisine," with an emphasis on local produce.
