Police investigated the scene of a pedestrian accident this morning at Waialae and 5th avenues. A 94-year-old man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police are asking the public for help in finding the hit-and-run driver who injured a 94-year-old pedestrian on Waialae Avenue on Jan. 3.

Witnesses are being asked to come forward in the case, which is being investigated as a failure to render aid.

The elderly man was hit at about 7:37 a.m. as he was crossing Waialae Avenue near 5th Avenue. The driver of a vehicle traveling east on Waialae Avenue reportedly ran a red light and failed to stop.

The car is described as a green four-door sedan with damages to the passenger side windshield. The vehicle was seen fleeing eastbound on Waialae.

The elderly victim suffered head and internal injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he was reported in critical condition last week. No updates on his condition were available.
