Firefighters rescue 2 fishermen in ocean off west Maui
Maui fire rescue personnel came to the aid of two fishermen in distress early Monday evening at the Olivine Pools in west Maui.
According to a Maui Fire Department report, one of the men was attempting to untangle his fishing line from some rocks when he was swept into the ocean by a wave. The other man jumped after him in an attempt to help.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 5:19 p.m. and were able to airlift the two men, both believed to be in their mid-20s, to safety.
No injuries were reported.
