Fire causes $80,000 damage to Nanakuli house
Fire investigators determined a fire Thursday afternoon caused an estimated $80,000 in damage to a single-story house in Nanakuli, but will continue their investigation into its cause.
A woman who resides there was not home at the time of the fire.
The blaze, which began in the kitchen and dining area at the rear of the Halike Place house, caused heat and flame damage there, and smoke damage to the remainder of the house, Seelig said.
Excessive clutter made it difficult for firefighters to ensure no items were left smoldering to completely extinguish the fire, Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said.
Firefighters brought the fire under control 12 minutes after arrival.
Two rooms were affected, including the kitchen when they arrived.
