After 7-6 season, UNLV coach Hauck gets raise
LAS VEGAS >> UNLV football coach Bobby Hauck will earn $700,000 a year under a three-year contract extension approved by the Nevada Board of Regents.
The board’s 10-3 vote Friday makes Hauck’s salary the eighth highest in the 12-school Mountain West Conference. His former $500,000 salary was the lowest in the conference.
Under the new contract, his base salary will increase from $150,000 to $200,000 a year and the total payout will be $2.25 million over three years. The contract runs from January 2014 to January 2017, and replaces a contract that was to expire on Dec. 21, 2014.
Hauck posted a 7-6 record last season but the Rebels lost to North Texas 36-14 in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, UNLV’s first bowl appearance in 13 years. He won two games in each of his first three seasons.
Regent Ron Knecht cited UNLV’s less-than-stellar season in voting against the contract.
