Get your geek on Feb. 22 with free workshops on technology and digital living at Leeward Community College.
Geek Day @ Leeward runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with demonstrations and hands-on classes on a variety of digital, mobile and technology topics, from social media and cloud computing to digital photography and computer security. The event is designed for the general public, with several sessions geared to educators, small businesses and nonprofits.
Workshops include how to shoot better digital photos (bring a camera), smart shopping on your smartphone, drawing with Adobe Illustrator, painting on Bamboo tablets, building a website with Adobe Muse, a no-cost alternative to Photoshop, and creating easy animations.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for registration, with the first session beginning at 10 a.m. Door prizes include iTunes, Google Play and Amazon gift cards.
Geek Day, coordinated by LCC’s digital media and computer science faculty, also offers a Digital Cafe where participants can discover new apps for mobile devices, join discussions and ask college staff a tech question. Lunch will be available from food vendors on site.
