Man arrested in alleged armed robbery
Police arrested a 27-year-old man with no local address who allegedly robbed a 35-year-old man in Honolulu early Friday morning.
Police said the suspect was armed when he allegedly demanded the older man’s property at 3:44 a.m. Officers arrested the suspect at 4 a.m. at Piikoi and Rycroft streets on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
Body is found floating in Ala Wai harbor
The body of a 63-year-old man was found Thursday evening floating in the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor, the city Emergency Medical Services Division said.
The body was reported at about 8:40 p.m. EMS officials said the man was declared dead at the scene.
Suspects sought in theft of koa wood
Hawaii County police are asking for the public’s help in identifying men wanted for theft of cut pieces of koa wood in Puna last week.
At about 11:40 p.m. Jan. 29, police received a call from a Mountain View homeowner reporting two suspicious trucks and that at least four male suspects were stealing wood. After confronting two of the men, the victim managed to recover several pieces of wood, police said. While he called police, both trucks fled.
The victim reported that he heard gunshots coming from the direction of the vehicles in the distance. He discovered that a chain preventing access to his property was cut.
