Wahine basketball team defeats UC Riverside
The Hawaii women’s basketball team returned to winning ways with a 67-54 defeat of UC Riverside on Thursday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
UH (12-10, 6-4 Big West) opened the second half on a 12-2 run and controlled things from there.
The Wahine got a career-high 15 points and seven rebounds from point guard Morgan Mason and senior forward Kamilah Jackson played through a second-half injury scare to finish with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Last-place UCR (4-19, 0-10) got 21 points from guard Brittany Crain, but that was not enough to end a school-record 16-game losing streak.
UH came out sluggish and fell behind by double digits, but retook the lead at 26-25 on a drive by Morgan Mason. The Wahine carried a three-point lead into the break behind eight points and nine rebounds in the period by Jackson and eight points by Mason.
