Pentagon names next commander of 25th Infantry Division

Brig. Gen. Charles A. Flynn, who has been selected for the rank of major general, has been assigned as the new commanding general of the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, the Pentagon announced Friday

Flynn is currently assistant deputy chief of staff for readiness at U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Flynn is former acting commanding general of the Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and deputy commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg.

His brother, Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn, is director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Also, Brig. Gen. John E. O’Neil, commandant of the U.S. Army Quartermaster School at Fort Lee, Va., has been tapped as director for logistics, engineering and security assistance at Pacific Command headquarters.
