Kihei stay this weekend is the costliest in U.S.

A getaway for Valentine’s Day in Kihei, Maui, would be the most expensive stay in the U.S., according to CheapHotels.org. Hawaii, in fact, has five destinations on the vacation booking site’s list of top 10 most expensive stays.

The website conducted a survey comparing U.S. destinations according to hotel room rates for the Valentine’s Day through Presidents Day weekend, from Friday through Monday, and Kihei’s $416 per night put it at the top.

The $416 is the average cost for the most affordable double room.

The rest of the CheapHotels.org top 10 most expensive destinations for the dual Valentine’s Day-Presidents Day weekend this year, as well as their average room rate are No. 2, Vail, Colo., $402; No. 3, Key West, Fla., $399; No. 4, Wai­lea, Maui, $359; No. 5, Sani­bel Island, Fla., $329; No. 6, Wai­ko­loa, Hawaii island, $326; No. 7, Isla­mo­rada, Fla., $319; No. 8, Aspen, Colo., $299; No. 9, Poipu, Kauai, $296; and No. 10, Kaanapali, Maui, $289.
