Honolulu bound lanes on Pali Highway reopened

    Crews begin to remove fallen trees near the hairpin turn on the Pali Highway Wednesday.

Honolulu police closed the Pali Highway in the Honolulu direction because of downed trees.

Police announced the closure at 10:42 a.m. Monday, after the trees fell at about 10:30 a.m. near the hairpin turn.

All Honolulu bound lanes on Pali Highway from Castle Junction were reopened around 11:40 p.m.

Earlier Monday, police closed roads in Kalihi along Likelike Highway and Nalanieha Street in the Kaneohe direction because of a downed tree, police said.

The closure was reported at about 4:16 a.m. and the roads reopened before 5 a.m.

There were several reports of downed trees overnight and Monday morning on Likelike Highway and Pali Highway.
