Bats come alive in Hawaii’s 9-0 win over Albany

Marcus Doi continued his hot start with three hits, including a triple, and three runs scored to lead Hawaii to a 9-0 shutout of Albany on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Junior Jarrett Arakawa (1-0) earned the victory with six shutout innings of four-hit ball. He got plenty of help offensively as Hawaii scored its most runs in a game since a 14-2 win over New Mexico State on May 4, 2012.

Kaeo Aliviado went 2-for-4 with an RBI to extend his hitting streak to six games and Marc Flores had two hits and drove in three runs for the Rainbow Warriors (2-4).

Hawaii tagged Albany starter Cameron Sorgie (0-1) for six runs in 1 2/3 innings. LJ Brewster snapped an 0-for-11 start with an RBI double in the second and Doi followed with a single to extend his hitting streak to six games.

Senor Josh Elms pitched the final three innings to earn his first save.

Hawaii didn’t commit an error for the first time this season.

The series continues on Saturday afternoon at 1:05 p.m.
