Big Island, Kauai median home prices rose in February
Sales volume and median prices rose for homes bought on Hawaii island and Kauai in February, according to a report from Hawaii Information Service released Wednesday. The biggest segment in the two markets, single-family houses on Hawaii island, achieved a 15 percent gain in sales to 143 transactions last month compared with 124 in the same month last year. The median price edged up 6 percent to $310,000 from $293,750 in the same period. In Hawaii island’s condominium market, the number of sales rose 25 percent to 50 last month from 40 a year earlier. The median price eked out a 2 percent gain to $223,250 from $218,000.
On Kauai, there were 31 single-family house sales last month, up 29 percent from 24 sales a year earlier. The median price slipped 3 percent to $499,000 from $512,400. Kauai condo sales were flat at 21 sales last month and a year earlier. The median price, however, soared 51 percent to $340,000 from $225,000.
