Kylyn Sasaki tripled down the right-field line to drive in two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as second-ranked Mililani downed Kapolei 6-1 in the OIA Red West softball opener for both teams on Thursday.
Mililani’s Jade Yado-Valdez went 2-for-4 and opened the scoring for the Trojans. The senior shortstop led off the bottom of the third inning with a triple to left-center and then scored on a passed ball.
Trojans ace Aubree Kim, a sophomore, struck out 10 batters over six innings.
Kamrynmae Kanae doubled and smacked a solo home run to lead Kapolei.
