Heavy showers prompt flood advisories for Oahu, Kauai
Slow-moving heavy showers forming over isolated sections of Oahu and Kauai have prompted weather officials to issue a flood advisories for those islands through late Monday afternoon.
The advisory for Oahu is posted through 5 p.m. The areas of heaviest rain on Oahu include Mililani to Wahiawa and Pearl City to Halawa.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service say the showers will likely spread to southeastern Oahu through midafternoon.
The flood avisory for Kauai is posted through 4:30 p.m. Radar shows areas of heavy rain over southeast and central Kauai.
The heavy rains also prompted Kauai County officials to expand a brown water advisory for areas from Nawiliwili to Kealia Beach.
The public is advised to avoid flood waters and storm runoff due to overflowing cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and flood debris.
