Flood advisory issued for Maui


The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory until 1 p.m. Saturday for the island of Maui after radars showed heavy rains along the north and windward slopes of the West Maui mountains and Haleakala.

Other locations included in the advisory are Kanaha Beach Park, Waihee, Wailuku, Pauwela, Paia, Napili, Kapalua, Kahakuloa, Huelo, Hookipa Beach Park, Honolua, Honokowai, Honokohau and Haiku.

Residents are advised to stay away from streams and drainage ditches and exercise caution when driving.
