Hawaii gives up 8 in the ninth to lose to Nevada
Kamehameha alumnus Kewby Meyer hit the game-tying three-run homer as part of an eight-run ninth inning that gave Nevada a crippling 10-6 win over Hawaii on Saturday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
The Wolf Pack (9-9) sent 13 batters to the plate off three UH relievers, scoring eight runs on five hits and five walks.
Jordan DePonte (1-2) took the loss for Hawaii (7-11), which has dropped six of seven.
Stephen Ventimilia went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Marc Flores and Kaeo Aliviado each doubled and drove in a run.
The bottom five hitters in Hawaii’s lineup combined to go 1-for-18.
The series continues Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
