Report of downed power line near ‘Iolani School
Officials are reporting a downed power line near the intersection of Date and Laau streets, according to police scanner chatter.
The power line is reportedly blocking the eastbound lane. It was first reported around 10:15 a.m.
A Hawaiian Electric Company spokeswoman said she had not yet heard of any outages in the area, but that crews have been working for the past 24 hours to respond to minor outages in neighborhoods around the island, all related to strong winds.
Sunday morning crews were working on small outages in the Nuuanu, Pauoa, Punchbowl area, HECO spokeswoman Teri Theuriet said.
Theuriet said the company relies on residents to report community outages through its hotlines or on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
