Police arrest 7, issue 313 citations on St. Patrick’s Day
Honolulu Police issued 313 citations and arrested seven people during stepped-up traffic enforcement on St. Patrick’s Day.
Police said the Traffic Division conducted a Project R.A.C.E. (Reduce Accidents and Collisions Everywhere) operation Monday night, increasing traffic and impaired driving enforcement island-wide using roadblocks and roving patrols.
Six of the arrests were for driving under the influence. The other arrest was for driving without a license.
Of the citations, 7 were for excessive speed, 187 for speeding, 31 for hazardous driving, 13 for driving without a license, 11 insurance violations, 4 for using a mobile electronic device while driving, 1 seat belt violation, 1 open container and 57 miscellaneous violations.
