Two men looking for allegedly stolen drugs and cash may have prompted a shooting at a 42-year-old man in front of his Salt Lake house, according to court documents.
Both Anthony Milikini, 28, and Joseph Woo, 31, were originally charged with second-degree attempted murder, but those charges were later reduced to first-degree terroristic threatening. Police said Woo allegedly fired a gun at the victim just after midnight Thursday as the victim tried to go back into his residence.
Milikini’s bail was set at $75,000.Two firearms violations were also lodged against Woo. His bail was set at $100,000.
Preliminary hearings for both men are scheduled for Thursday.
The victim identified Milikini as one of the suspects the day of the shooting, according to an affidavit filed by police in Honolulu District Court. An informant told police that Woo was the person who shot the gun, and he was arrested two days after the incident.
According to the affidavit, the two men went to the victim’s home on Likini Street because Milikini believed the victim had "a large amount of drugs and cash" that the victim allegedly had stolen. Milikini’s girlfriend drove the pair to the Salt Lake home in Milikini’s red truck.
Milikini told a police officer that as he approached the house, he saw Woo outside the garage. The victim was in the garage when Milikini allegedly told the victim, "You know why we are here." The victim said he didn’t know and then stated, "How about we even the odds" as he ran for a bag in the garage, the affidavit said.
Woo then allegedly told the victim to stop as he pulled a gun from the pocket of his camouflage jacket.
Milikini then allegedly tried to grab Woo’s arm to tell him to leave, the affidavit said.
The affidavit said the victim said he recognized only Milikini and that it was Milikini who ordered Woo to "show this f—– we mean business."
The victim told police that Woo allegedly told him, "If you go into the house, I’m going to shoot you in the head," the affidavit said.
The victim said he heard a loud "pop," and the gunshot hit the wall of the house, the affidavit said.
