Na, Pepperdine lead Spring Break event
The University of Hawaii women’s golf team shot a second-round 308 for a 615 total and is tied for 10th after the second round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic at The Bay Course in Kapalua, Maui, on Tuesday.
No. 15 Pepperdine, led by defending champion Grace Na, posted a tournament-best 287 for a 577 total and holds a three-stroke lead over No. 10 Washington entering Wednesday’s final round.
Na shot a 6-under 66 and leads the tournament at 8-under 136. UC Davis’ Betty Chen and Washington’s Ying Luo each shot even-par 72 and are at 2-under 142.
Freshmen Izzy Leung led the UH golfers with a 4-over 76151, which is tied for 20th. Freshman Brianna Becker shot 77154 and is tied for 38th. Freshman Raquel Ek shot 78155 and is tied for 41st, along with freshman Kelli-Anne Katsuda, who shot 77. Sophomore Nichole Cruz shot an 80164 and is tied for 78th.
Maui native Liana Otake is one of three Rainbow Wahine competing as individuals. Otake shot 82159 and is tied for 61st. Freshman Daezsa Tomas eagled the par-4 13th, holing out from 175 yards and shot 82160 and is tied for 64th. Senior Charlee Kapiioho-Sagum is tied for 80th at 165 after a second-round 84.
Wahine hoops banquet April 13
The Hawaii women’s basketball team will hold its 2013-14 postseason banquet on April 13 at the Ala Moana Hotel’s Hibiscus Ballroom. Check-in is at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and the program to follow at 6.
Individual tickets are $55 for Rainbow Wahine Booster Club members and $60 for everyone else. A full table is $700 and $750, respectively, including seating for two UH players or coaches. Proceeds go toward the team’s summer school fund.

UH concluded the season at 17-14 under second-year coach Laura Beeman with its second straight first-round exit in the WNIT.
UHH’s Lee launches homers in sweep
Rebecca Lee hit a three-run homer in the first game and a grand slam in the second, propelling Hawaii Hilo to a 6-1 and 7-2 softball sweep of UC San Diego in La Jolla, Calif., on Tuesday. Lee drove in four runs in each game for the Vulcans (17-13). UC San Diego is 18-6.
Holy Names takes no mercy on UHH
Holy Names (12-16, 2-12 PacWest) amassed 21 hits in a 15-1 baseball win over Hawaii Hilo in the opener and beat the Vulcans (10-15, 7-9) in the second game 3-0 in Oakland, Calif., on Tuesday.
